Coconut oil and dementia

Hi folks,  reading up on some articles about how coconut oil has helped people with alzheimers. wow, imagine that.  Ive got a client i go to whos husband has Alzheimers, its a very hard thing to go through. watching a loved one change into this half person, someone whose memory is failing, who gets confused, doesnt quiet know whats going on and immediately forgeting simple things like wether they just ate lunch. Its a cruel joke of a disease for those around the patient.

then this,
"A review of the Alzheimer’s Association’s last available tax returns shows that 27% of their revenue is spent on salaries and management, and much of the remaining 73% goes to medical colleges, universities, and hospitals for research.
So why aren’t these places researching coconut oil? Apparently because coconut oil could never be patented as a natural product, and because drugs are so much more profitable. A study published by ProPublica last year and reported by the New York Times and Dr. Mercola shows that much of the research done at these places is conducted by doctors on the payroll of major pharmaceutical companies."

so, its profits before people
drug companies arent going to make money out of us knowing that coconut oil is helping people with dementia.
greedy selfish pigs! (no excuses for my language, it makes me mad)

here is one link that i read, one of many out there.
http://healthimpactnews.com/2012/coconut-oil-reverses-the-effects-of-alzheimers-in-50-year-old-woman/

with alzheimers there is no hope so there is nothing to loose by experiementing with alternatives.

ps went camping on the weekend, had one nice day then the rain started so we came home early sunday morning. think we need a firmer mattress too, both were getting a sore back.

winter wonderland

winter is upon us down yonder in the...pacific ocean.  this means cold frosty mornings followed by brilliant clear days, flat seas and no wind..........well that what its like at the moment.  sitting in the sun you can still feel the intensity of the suns rays, and taking shelter you cool off really quickly. still wearing t shirts but now added a light cardi to keep the chill off and socks as well. inside ive dug out the slippers as it just too cool for bare feet (yes normally one would be barefooted, inside especially, its bad manners to leave your shoes on inside the house) weve had a few fires but not every evening, wont be long and i will be trying to keep it stoked up during the day so it doesnt go out.
getting lots of work at the moment, my coordinator said lots of staff are off sick, so ive been to different homes to fill in, great for me, not so good that people are getting sick.  the change of season always brings colds etc.  i rarely get them anyway and with taking reliv i shall succumb to less and less as well as recover quickly from any i do fall victim to.
Our reliv meeting on tuesday night went so well.  all around the world all reliv presentations are conducted at 7.30 on a tuesday, so no matter where you are you can hunt one down. anyway back to our or should i say My reliv meeting.....again i presented the presentation, this time i stood, well for most of it, tryed it with out the rescue remedy and i was ok for about 10mins then nerves started to creep in, i then gave them a good kick in the arse and continued and got back on track, the rest of the evening was really relaxed and we had a room full of laughter and stories and sharing, It was as much fun as you can have with your clothes on. one of the girls brought along her grandmother who started reliv last week, within 2 days she says she got out of bed in the morning to go to the bathroom and didnt need her walking stick, no pain in the hips or knees. another girl told us her niece whom shell has put reliv on is having great results with her diabetes, this is a girl about 8 who was looking down the barrell of the insulin injection, her blood sugar has dropped from 12 to 8, (i know its measured differently in other countries, 3.5 - 7 is norm and over 7 a concern, mine are norm 4.5 in the morning) thats amazing.  reliv isnt a cure but it feeds the body what it needs and we go about repairing ourselves how we are intended.
My friend kelly has introduced reliv to her cousin in holland, who thought she was healthy but gave it a go, she is pleasantly surprised, thats what all healthy people are finding, they feel better than they imagined they could. another girl at the meeting shared that her sense of smell has returned, shes noticing people thru her checkout at work, b.o unfortunetly but shes excited none the less, oh and womans perfumes as well which she hasnt noticed before, how great is that.
well, thats my bash on reliv for the day, those in america are so lucky, as its half the price there, here its more expensive for us than our whole grocery budget was but we make it happen because of the huge benefit.  oh before i go, kellys friend with cancer is feeling so well, please please please if you have someone going thru chemo, this makes an enormous difference to the process, no vomitting, feeling fit, you must tell them.
love ya

facing our fears

I had a monumental moment last night.  I stood in front of a group of people and gave a 1/2 hour reliv presentation.  this is a biggy for me. ive never been able to speak publicly and hold it together.

2 months ago i was put on the spot in a board room of about 20 people and asked to share my story,  standing up and facing a video camera, lets say it went horrendously bad and i couldnt stop shaking and after about 25 seconds gave up and sat down, it would have scarred me for life had i not really given a sh*t.  although im really confident, something happens when i stand to give a speach, well, until last night.

I knew the info i was going to tell really well, i practised once at home aloud to my self, then i used lots of bach flowers "rescue remedy" and i just did it, I nailed it.  afterwards my upline came and gave me a hug she was that proud of me, I was of course awesome, lol.

on my way home i was so proud of myself i felt like i could do anything, even skydive.  of course this morning the buzz has worn off and i dont want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane unless its about to become not so perfect and crash.

Now i really think how dumb it was to be overcome with nerves and not be able to speak, I don't have much trouble writing, so why not talk as well.  glen said to me the other day, "you've got tons of personality, you can talk about composting human waste and make it sound interesting"  and now I've conquered this i wonder where it will take me.
of course i still need practice, but practice makes perfect.

what fears have held you back?  whats stopping you from being awesome?

why alkalize

The ph scale runs from 0 to 14, 0 being acid, 7 being neutral and 14 being alkaline

The human body is designed to function at 7.4  slightly alkaline of neutral.

Modern diet has become extremely acidic, and although our bodies can to a degree keep our balance this new environment with pollutions, acidic foods, and daily stress of a fast paced world is just too much and our bodies become dis – eased

To return to our near neutral state we have to eliminate the contributing factors as much as possible.  Ideally to maintain health we need to balance our diets in a ratio of 80% alkaline forming to 20% acid forming foods.  An unhealthy body, one at dis ease (diseased) needs to be detoxified by applying a 100% alkaline diet until balance has returned.

A healthy body also needs many vitamins and minerals to maintain health, fight off invaders and grow healthy new cells to replace damaged ones.  As many of our foods are lacking in nutrients, we really need to take a really good multi vitamin and mineral supplement.

Water, essential for proper hydration of the body is broadly neutral.  To help with the detoxification of an acidic diseased body we need to flush out our bodies with a high ph water.  Filtering and ionizing machines are available to alter the ph of water to assist in this process.

It is recommend we drink 3 – 4 litres of water throughout the  day to maintain heath.

There are foods that are acidic that once metabolised have an alkalizing effect on the body.  Oranges and lemons are a prime example of this

Generally vegetables are alkaline forming and meats, dairy, fish, grains and processed foods are acid forming.
One of the worse acid forming foods is sugar, in all its forms, white, raw, syrups.  Fizzy drinks, even the artificially sweetened ones are so acid forming it takes 32 glasses of high ph water to eliminate the negative effects of 1 glass of carbonated drink.

Not all foods are created equal.
Home grown or organically produced foods are much better for your body.  An example:  carrots, although vegetable are not always alkaline forming,  commercially grown in depleted soils can make carrots and their juice acidic due to the lack of nutrients.

Corn, tomatoes, silverbeet are also mildly acidic and should be kept to a minimum.
Turnips, pumkin, sweet potatoes, asparagus, cabbage, celery, parsnip, onions, taro, peppers are all good alkaline foods.

Where does our food go? Yip into the intestines, so the quicker we can eliminate wastes from our body the better we will function.  Plenty of water and fibre in our diets can have significant effect on the state of our heath.

a little exercise with a big view.

Yesterday Glen, our friend John and I went for a hike.  Lathams track is about 15 mins drive from home in a rural area called Awakeri (ah, wah, kerry) the track begins with a stroll across a grassy paddock with a slight incline, through an electric fence gate, stepping around cow pats, passing a group of docile cows we meander around a hillside track to the edge of a valley of dense native growth. following the muddy path we wind our way upwards towards the lookout and trig station.  the walk took us just under an hour to reach the top, stopping to catch our breath, take in the view and listen to bird song.  I love this sort of exercise, absolutely stuffs you to the core but is the most enjoyable type of exhaustion you can ever feel.  the view at the top was as breathtaking as the climb itself.  after taking in the vista we started the descent back to the car park, a little faster than the ascent taking 45 mins.  Its the first time ive been up this track, the second time for glen, having done it just a few weeks ago, and the first time for john.  something on our back door step that we have driven past many times and said we must do, now will become a regular for us.  john is returning today to take his teenage boys up there.  we really are blessed to have such great resources within minutes of home, thats why they call this "the bay of plenty" as it certainly is.

i love auctions

thursday night is our local auction night. last night i ventured out in the cool evening air to see if i could get me a bargain.......there was an old wash board i tried for, pulled out at $50, a keen lady keeping ferociously up with my bidding didnt appear to be wavering so i stopped, i mean its a washboard, handy at times buy i can make do without it, i can always improvise and make my own, whereas i think the bidder was going more for antique collectables and i for tools.  I did though win a lovely oak cutlery box with 3 sets of bone handled silver fish knives and forks,  sets of 4, 6, and 6 and one with a serving knife and fork as well.  i really wanted the box to put my late great aunts silver service into.  i shall keep the nicer set of fish knives/forks and sell the other 2 sets.

I havent got my pumpkin gnocchi reciped done yet, i ended up eating the mashed pumpkin before i had sussed out an appropriate flour to use. will get back to that in time.  looking at buying a ph meter to help with my alkaline recipe adventure.
I spoke to a woman on tuesday who has been doing the alkaline diet for 18 days, and taking reliv food supplement for 3 months.  she suffered adrenal failure after taking up old carpet that was moldy underneath.  doctor could not do anything for her, and she had to give up work because of fatigue.  well, on tuesday she said she had never felt better, so has turned her health around. Its amazing what our bodies can do once it is given the correct foods.

till next time
take great care peeps
